I have Breast Cancer?? Are you serious?? I cried. I screamed and I asked God, “Why me?”

Although is extremely uncommon for young women to have breast cancer, at the age of 27 I received the diagnosis that the lump in my breast was indeed cancerous.

So many thoughts traveled through my mind since I found out, but now it’s time to be strong and fight. Not only do I have to remain strong for myself but I need to be strong for my 7 year old son.

They say you never know how strong you are until being strong is all you have. With this experience or journey as I am going to call it, I will be trying my very best to help others along the way. I am going to be showing some very sensitive moments like shaving my hair off in preparation for cancer treatments and filming some of my appointments and events thereafter.

My new question is, “Why not me?” I am strong and I can handle anything negative thrown at me.

Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.
